Livelihoods in the cocoa sector: practical approaches for SMEs

At this event, the German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa and the Swiss Cocoa Platform presented concrete approaches for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to promote living incomes in the cocoa sector. The aim is to present practicable strategies and instruments and to promote dialogue on current challenges and opportunities for living incomes.

The event began with an introduction to the current challenges and developments in the cocoa sector.

Practical tools and approaches that can support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in promoting living incomes for cocoa farming households were then presented in an interactive format.

At several stations, members of the initiatives presented concrete solutions and an expert panel with representatives from SMEs, standard organisations, the chocolate industry and the retail trade highlighted different perspectives and experiences.

A concluding panel discussion offered the opportunity to discuss specific topics and concerns in greater depth.

Afterwards, an informal reception provided space for dialogue and networking.
