Beastly pink connection: ISM takes over sponsorship for the flamingos at Cologne Zoo

The leading global trade fair for sweets and snacks, ISM, is taking on a special partnership: on World Flamingo Day, it is sponsoring a group of flamingos at Cologne Zoo, emphasising the close relationship with its plush mascot GISMO - a flamingo that has been the face and heart of the ISM family since 2023.GISMO: A symbol for uniqueness and resilience
GISMO, the bubbly flamingo with bright pink feathers, is much more than merely a mascot: With his charismatic nature and love for sweets he has conquered the hearts of the ISM visitors.
"We are delighted that we were able to take on this sponsorship. Flamingos are not only impressive birds, they also match the values of ISM perfectly: Uniqueness, courage, flexibility and resilience to assert oneself in a dynamic environment. Our mascot GISMO is a symbol for these attributes. This sponsorship allows us to further underline this connection", stated Sabine Schommer, ISM Director.
Cologne Zoo is also delighted about the new sponsorship: "I sincerely thank ISM for taking over the sponsorship of the flamingos. This support in the scope of a sponsorship is very important for Cologne Zoo and enables us to continually improve the living conditions of the animals and further extend our education and species protection programmes", stated Prof. Theo B. Pagel, Director of Cologne Zoo.

The exclusive content on GISMO and his real-life friends from the flamingo enclosure of Cologne Zoo is a special highlight. The photos and videos can be viewed on the website of ISM and on the social media channels. For its part, Cologne Zoo will also be present at ISM to draw attention to donation campaigns and sponsorships. "The collaboration promises many interesting stories and information about the flamingo sponsorship and the plush mascot GISMO and supports the valuable work of Cologne Zoo", said a delighted Sabine Schommer.
A strong signal for the location Cologne
Actively supporting local initiatives is of great importance to ISM: In this way, it has already been supporting among others the food bank in Cologne with monetary and in-kind donations for many years. Supporting Cologne Zoo also strengthens the connection between ISM and the location Cologne. The sponsorship certificate can be viewed on the website of ISM.

Tierisch pinke Verbindung: ISM übernimmt Flamingo-Patenschaft im Kölner Zoo

Die internationale Süßwarenmesse ISM geht eine besondere Partnerschaft ein: Zum Welt-Flamingo-Tag übernimmt sie eine Patenschaft für eine Gruppe Flamingos im Kölner Zoo und unterstreicht so die enge Beziehung mit ihrem Plüsch-Maskottchen GISMO – einem Flamingo, der seit 2023 das Gesicht und Herz der ISM-Familie ist.GISMO: Ein Symbol für Einzigartigkeit und Resilienz
GISMO, der quirlige Flamingo mit dem knalligen pinken Gefieder, ist weit mehr als nur ein Maskottchen: Mit seinem charismatischen Auftreten und seiner Vorliebe für Süßwaren hat er die Herzen der ISM-Besuchenden im Sturm erobert.
„Wir freuen uns darüber, dass wir diese Patenschaft übernehmen konnten. Flamingos sind nicht nur beeindruckende Vögel, sondern passen perfekt zu den Werten der ISM: Einzigartigkeit, Mut, Flexibilität und Resilienz, sich in einem dynamischen Umfeld zu behaupten. Unser Maskottchen GISMO ist ein Symbol für diese Qualitäten. Durch die Patenschaft bringen wir diese Verbindung noch stärker zum Ausdruck“, so Sabine Schommer, Director ISM.
Und auch der Kölner Zoo zeigt sich über die neue Patenschaft begeistert: „Ich bedanke mich herzlich für die Übernahme der Patenschaft der Flamingos. Diese Unterstützung im Rahmen einer Patenschaft ist sehr wichtig für den Kölner Zoo und ermöglicht es uns, die Lebensbedingungen der Tiere kontinuierlich zu verbessern und unsere Bildungs- und Artenschutzprogramme weiter auszubauen“, so Prof. Theo B. Pagel, Direktor des Kölner Zoos.
Exklusive Inhalte und interaktive Erlebnisse im Kölner Zoo und auf der ISM
Ein besonderes Highlight ist der exklusive Content von GISMO und seinen realen Gefährten aus dem Flamingo-Gehege des Kölner Zoos. Die Fotos und Videos werden auf der Webseite der ISM und auf den Social Media-Kanälen zu sehen sein. Der Kölner Zoo wird seinerseits ebenfalls auf der ISM präsent sein, um auf Spenden- und Patenschaften aufmerksam zu machen. „Die Zusammenarbeit verspricht viele interessante Geschichten und Informationen rund um die Flamingo-Patenschaft und das Plüschmaskottchen GISMO und unterstützt die wertvolle Arbeit des Kölner Zoos“, freut sich Sabine Schommer.
Ein starkes Zeichen für den Standort Köln
Die aktive Unterstützung lokaler Initiativen ist für die ISM von großer Bedeutung: So unterstützt sie bereits seit vielen Jahren u.a. die Tafel Köln e.V. mit Geld- und Sachspenden.
